I want to jump back again. I feel like that’s the story of my life, wanting to do something, waiting too long, so having to rewind. Before I share all of our fun baby meals we’ve been doing- I want to share how we started the world of solids, Chester’s favorites, and other items we loved using as we navigated those first few months. You can read my post on our favorite baby cooker here.
So when I launched my new design for the blog earlier this year, I had planned to do a load of old posts I had saved that had to do with all things newborn. But in great Kaylee fashion, I can’t find the folders- BUT some of them are SO good, I am going to redo it all because it’s so worth it and every new mama needs these things! So first off- our obsession for lovedbaby.
We got back from our trip to Charleston about two weeks ago. We settled in, caught up on rest, and then prepared to kick off fall..our favorite time of the year. I want to do all the things.
It felt like it rained so much when we were home but we were ecstatic when the weekend gave us a beautiful few days. We did orchards, cider mills, pumpkin farms, and fall festivals. My heart is giddy for this season.
Guys, I have been finding myself in tears multiple times the past few days over Houston! It just breaks my heart that so many peoples lives are wrecked right now. It truly has made a pit in my stomach.
Let me throw something back for you.. .ten years ago if you would have asked me what I hoped my life looked like in ten years.. I probably would have said, standing in the kitchen that my husband and I live in, with a baby on my hip, in my barefeet. WHAT. Fastforward, ten years, here I am… While it mostly still looks different, it truly is a dream.
Although we haven’t mastered the art of packing for trips yet, we are still learning, I do feel like we have somewhat of a grasp on weekend packing. Whether we are running off to my in-laws or to the family farm, we try to be very light and organized, so we want to share some tips we have learned along the way.
This week has actually flown by! Cue all the dance parties, because everyone knows we love the weekends, I mean who doesn’t?Ā We are a little sad because we were suppose to have family in town but we are going to make the best out of it + enjoy a ton of downtime (hopefully!)
Seriously, where do I even start? We have SO many things we want to share after our recent trip to Utah + Arizona, so bear with me on these longer posts. From how we packed with a newborn to all the best hikes. So we hope you stick with us here and enjoy all the stuff we are about to throw your way.
In honor of National Breastfeeding Week- I thought I could center this Friday around all of our favorite + must have nursing stuff.
I wish I could say that our journey with breastfeeding has been a breeze but we have had plenty of ups and downs. Although we seem to be on the rise now that he is 5 months, I take every feed as a blessing that my body is still allowing for me to nurture my baby. There are some things I have learned + also appreciate that have helped us along the way.
We have been on the go non-stop all of July. I can’t complain too much because it made time fly by and I am so ready for fall. The heat wave finally broke this past weekend and we found ourselves enjoying the cooler weather after bedtime on patios and by heading to a local peach farm on Sunday.
I am almost at a loss of words but yet have so much to say. It was important to me to take the time to write his birth story on paper before sharing it here. And while I kept it more raw + detailed over there, I still want to share the majority of his story here. So grab a cup of coffee (or wine) and read about the biggest miracle I’ve ever witnessed.
Before kids: “Oh, I’ll never be a cheesy mom. I’ll still keep things low key on decorating for holidays, I won’t spend a bunch of money on Easter baskets, AND I DEFINITELY will not have all those bright colors around my house for the holidays.”
After Chester: “I need to buy him this bunny, this book because, DUH he belongs here andddd it has a bunny on the front. Oh and that colorful banner, need that, yep”.
If you read my last post, you would have already picked up that sweet boy and I were showered unexpectedly after our first shower was cancelled due to a family emergency. I am so excited to share this day with you, it’s one of those moments that I will struggle putting into words and expressing my gratitude for so many dear family + friends.
Over joyed to announce the arrival of our son, Chester Lee Crane, born March 8th, 2017 at 5:04pm, weighing 7lb3ozs and measuring 20 1/4”. The last few days have been more than blissful and exhausting. We are looking forward to soaking in this time as a family before Chase heads back to work. We will share his birth story hopefully really soon, but first, putting pen to paper. Thank you so much for your well wishes + love!
I can’t believe how close we are to meeting our little guy. We are 38.5 weeks & my body is definitely telling us that we will be a family of four in no time. While we’ve been so busy catching up from the crazy past month, we have finally finished the nursery + packed our bags for the hospital.
Planning a trip to Seattle soon? If your not, find a flight and GO, soon! It was so amazing! We are already talking about heading back next fall with our sweet baby in tow. While we will do our next trip differently-spending more time out in the mountains and probably only one day in the city- we wanted to do a breakdown of our favorite places around town for good eats, treats, and coffee!
I am insanely thrilled to try something new this year that I saw someone else doing on Instagram! Chase and I usually sit down at the end of the year and look at our past goals/plans and see what worked and what didn’t. From there we plan forward for the year to come. At one point we had a five year plan and quickly had accomplished all of it within a year and half. I truly believe it was because of this exercise that we were able to do that.
Every year Chase and I take time to reflect on the past year as well as plan for the future 365 days. I usually pick a word that I want to reflect on throughout the year and really focus my days around.
So as I sit here in the cutest coffee shop, I find myself trying to remember why I chose not only one but three of the words that I did last year. Self-love, healthy mind, and taking one step at a time.
A few years ago my college girlfriends and I started one of my very favorite traditions, Friendsgiving! While Iāve hosted each year, I was over the moon excited for this year! Thereās something so special about a home being yours and being able to do whatever you want with it to make you love it all that much more.
After this next sentence, most of you will probably hate me. BUT I LOVE CLEANING. I love it love love it! I canāt help it. I donāt necessarily look forward to it, but once I pull out my supplies, turn on some of my favorite music, and get going- I feel like a whole new person!
Oh our sweet baby, how badly you were prayed for! Read more on that here. It was late June, a hot summer day. We were planning a weekend away in Colorado the following weekend and I was about to sign a lease on a studio. After your daddy and I talked and talked about the finances, the lifestyle change, and YOU-we made the decision,Ā if we were still waiting for you, I would go ahead and sign a 6 month lease.
Our time in Arkansas was short and quite the adventure, but absolutely great! It was a last minute trip and reminded me the importance of being spontaneous! Gathering all our gear is always one of my favorite parts of trips. Pulling out the tent and making sure you have enough matches to start fires brings me simple joy.
If you know me personally, you know that Iām a sucker for good details. Whether itās in a wedding invitation, on a shelf in your kitchen, or a piece of thread in your wardrobe- it brings out my inner goddess.
Meaning that these are some of my absolute favs from our wedding day
If you follow me over on Instagram, you would have seen my post about our exciting news of moving to the city thatās on fire! Weāve been preparing for our move to KC for quite a few months now.
When we left our college town and moved back to my husbandās hometown I knew I wanted to raise our babies there someday. Thereās a special little feeling of being apart of such a small and amazing community, one that I didnāt expect to feel with not being from there.
As we all know, usually, nothing goes as planned. Chase started applying for jobs and found his love and passion in sales. He set big goals and succeeded way faster than either of us would have expected! Within a year and two weeks he found himself checking off his second to biggest goal in his field- becoming a representative out of KC. So here we are- closing on our āvery first homeā tomorrow.
Our process of house shopping was quite the experience. The night we landed from our honeymoon, Chase had an e-mail from his boss telling him there was a position open, even though it was 11pm, he applied that night. Christmas Eve, we got the best gift of all, finding out Chase had got the position after a few very LONG months. We started the house hunting process right away. We were looking at homes non-stop and nothing was giving us the feeling we had hoped for.Ā We were both getting really frustrated and aggravated with the process. We considered multiple ideas but something told us to keep looking. One morning at 6am, I was pouring my coffee when I got an alert about a historic home for sale. I opened the link and there it was, the place we would soon call home.
I think we both knew it before we even got there later that day. It took us a whole few hours to put an offer in and before we knew it we were under contract. Itās funny how things work out if you keep pushing forward even when times get tough.
We canāt wait to share our adventure with nesting in our new home!
As the holidays have been approaching, I’ve been sprucing up anything and everything I can with some holiday cheer. The minute Thanksgiving was over, I ditched the fall sangria ingredients and grabbed the goodies for my favorite, Moscow Mules. I hope y’all enjoy this little recipe, but not too much, okay… Maybe .. Just don’t admit the recipe came from me! Happy Holiday-ing.
Copper Mug with Ice..
2 ounces Gin or Vodka.. (I prefer Bombay)
6 ounces Ginger Beer (Cranberry Ginger Shandy is my go-to)
If youāre an avid reader to my blog, there is a couple things you know for sure.. one of those being that I love to host any event for any given reasonā¦ Sometimes, I come up with crazy reasons to throw a party.. But my brother proposing to my soon-to-be sister-in-law was the perfect reason to celebrate!
Typically, I would put in weeks-months of planning for an occasion. But with our wedding being only three weeks before the shower and taking a week honeymoon. I knew I was going to have to do something simple and with minor prepping.
Miss Julie is the most darling, stylish, event coordinator and has an eye for the details as well. I wanted something that would be organic and luscious but still have a chic feel.
In my eyes, floral is always the focal point at any event. I decided lots of greenery, hints of berry, and wood platters were a must. I simply used a vintage taupe tablecloth, bought an excessive amount of eucalyptus, and sat out every piece of threshold wood platters from Target I could find in my moms house.
For the shower gifts to guest my sweet husband made a shower scrub (recipe coming later this week), we put the scrub in a pint mason jar, and added a sticker that you can buy hereā¦ http://etsy.me/1GPgwfb
I loved the simplicity luscious feel of this shower! Happy Weekend, friends!
Love pictures? Love Instagram? Love the concept of easily printing those photos straight from your cellular device? ME TOO! If Chatbooks are for me ā¦ well then they are definitely for you!
I came across this fancy little gig about a year ago and fell in love immediately. Instagram is my favorite and I put a lot of effort into my feed. However, sometimes I get to thinking that will it all be for nothing? With SnapChat on the rise for bloggers and social media lovers, I canāt help but wonder when Instagram will disappear into the dust just like MySpace and AOL. Although I am biased and think Instagram should be a thing even when my grandchildren come aroundā¦ You never know!
So what is this little darling book you may ask? THE COOLEST THING EVER. All you do is download the application or go straight to their website- create an account- choose photos straight from your social networks or photo albums and TA-DA.. PRINT TIME!
What is so awesome about this business is they even have an option for an āongoing seriesā.. With this, they simply send you a notification when you have almost reached your 60 pages for your new book, if you want to print the new series itās as easy as one click! OR you can choose the custom route.. which is always a good option in my book as well.
My personal favorite is the ongoing series. Itās so fun to whip these fun little books out for my grandma who is definitely not on Insta even though she totally wishes or when I meet fellow bloggers and want to show them my work in a jiff. I also love having my book contain photos from Instagram- it includes the caption and date with the photo! I canāt wait to go back one day and see how much my content has grown!
And today is your lucky day, because I have a code just for YOU and your series to get your first book FREE. Use code 7Rl6GT7QĀ at checkout!
